COSMODOME PLANETARIUM SCHOOL EXCURSION OR INCURSION

The Cosmodome is a portable planetarium and 3D cinema which allows images, films and planetarium shows to be projected onto its interior. The system was developed in conjunction with scientists at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing, Swinburne University of Technology. It utilises a ventilated, inflatable dome and a projected mirror system to display 360 degree images onto a wrinkle free surface.

Access is via a full height airlock entry door and the interior of our 5m dome can accommodate up to 30 children. All projection equipment is located towards the edge of the dome allowing more viewing space in the centre. High-resolution digital images are displayed by a projector and sound effects are played via a Boss sound system.

The dome requires a clear space of 6m x 7m and a room height of 3.3m. Along with a 240V power supply, these are the only prerequisites for accommodating the Cosmodome.

The dome is made from fire retardant material but in the event of an emergency, it can be exited in a matter of seconds.

A wide range of films are available for the Cosmodome with each combining an educational theme with an exciting 3D digital animation where the film totally surrounds the audience.

The Cosmodome also operates as a fully functioning planetarium. Using our Stellarium and Celestia software packages, a complete range of night sky events and objects can be displayed in full 360 degrees. Planetarium shows are designed to meet each level of the WA science curriculum "Earth and Beyond" and can be further tailored to meet the specific requirements of individual schools.

Bookings or further information can be obtained by emailing SpaceTime at sales@spacetime.com.au

3D PLANETARIUM FILMS

Each of the 3D films available for the Cosmodome delivers an educational message in an entertaining package. Films range in duration from 20 minutes to 30 minutes and while each film has an educational content suited to a specific age group, all films can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

A total of 15 films are currently available for the Cosmodome with five of these currently being shown by SpaceTime. Additional 3D films will be added to our over the course of 2010.

Take an amazing 3D journey around and through the human body. After viewing the skeleton and major organs you will then board a minature submarine before being injected into an artery. Fly through the carotid artery; explore the eye, brain, ear, and heart. Then, shrink into a cell to see its nucleus and DNA within. Discover how DNA programs the body's cells to form the circulatory and nervous systems. Then watch from inside as we use lasers to fight disease at the cellular level.
