Our mobile observatory utilises twin Meade LX90 - 12 inch, computer controlled telescopes. These telescopes have a database of 30,000 night sky objects, any one of which can be located in a matter of seconds. The decision to use these scopes was based upon a desire to combine the largest possible (portable) scope combined with the ease of use of a computer controlled telescope. Each of these scopes are fitted with a high quality star diagonal, filter wheel with a range of sky filters and Vixen super wide angle eyepieces.

The telescopes are complemented by 15x70 tripod mounted binoculars and we will shortly be adding a set of Meade MySky multi media personal sky guides.

The choice of telescopes, binoculars and accessories are designed to provide the best possible views of the West Australian night sky and therefore maximise the viewing pleasure of our guests.

Our night sky tours are tailored to suite either the general public or school groups. In both cases we will endeavour to provide a fun and informative night sky tour. Prominent constellations will be highlighted and their various myths and legends discussed. The best objects in the night sky will then be targeted by our scopes and will include a selection of planets, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Everyone that attends our show will get the chance to view all objects through the telescopes and binoculars, as well as trying their hand at locating objects through the MySky personal sky guides.
